The current food testing scenario in Delhi is quite alarming. With the rise in cases of food adulteration, the need for food testing has become more important than ever. However, the state of the food testing lab in Delhi is quite poor.
There are only a handful of government-run food testing lab in Delhi, and most of them are understaffed and underfunded.This has led to a situation where the turnaround time for food testing is quite high, and often takes weeks or even months.
This is not acceptable in a city where the population is constantly exposed to adulterated food.
